Family Weekend Break in Wokingham

Enjoy a family weekend away in Wokingham by staying at the 4 star Holiday Inn Reading M4 Jct10. This is a great hotel for all the family to enjoy along with being situated in the perfect location for many great family attractions.

Two must attractions are the theme park Legoland, which is a 10 minute drive from the hotel, and Windsor Castle, about 8 miles west of London Heathrow Airport and just 20 minutes drive from Holiday Inn Reading M4 Jct10. Where else could you one minute portray Indiana Jones in the Laser Raider, then the next become Johnny Depp and fight off numerous pirates.  Children are also able to obtain their very own driver’s license at Legoland. However you must remember that if you get pulled over by the police then this as an acceptable form of license.

For more educational attractions, then why not visit either Reading Museum or the Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology. This is located on the University of Reading Campus and has the fourth largest collection of Greek ceramics in Britain. If that doesn’t excite the children, then the opportunity to see a mummified cat’s head is sure to interest them.

Now if your children spend too much time watching TV or playing on the computer and you are after them spending more time outdoors, then there are many Country parks that the whole family can enjoy. The first is Wellington Country Park which is set in Riseley, near Reading; this offers 350 acres of parkland, along with a 35 acre lake and adventure play area for the children to enjoy. The second is Beale Park which is situated on the banks of the river Thames; this re-opens on Saturday 11th February, which is in perfect time for the February half term break. Beale Park will also host the annual Beale Boat Show from 8th – 10th June. The third option is Dinton Pastures Country Park situated in Wokingham, which is an 8 minute drive from the Holiday Inn Reading M4 Jct10.  The park offers 4 different walks around the lakes and woods.

If you are looking for somewhere where the children can both enjoy themselves and be exhausted, in order for you to relax in the bar with a couple of drinks, then why not take the children to Bracknell’s ski slopes or their Olympic-sized Ice rink. I guarantee that after a full day skating, they will soon become the next Torvill and Dean. Another great attraction is Go Ape, in Bracknell. However this is not an attraction for people scared of heights as its involves: zip wiring through 30ft trees, crawling through tunnels and tackling high wire rope bridge. So basically your role is to play Tarzan for the day.

The hotel further benefits from complimentary underground parking for hotel residents and is a 1-minute walk from the Winnersh Triangle Train Station on the Reading to Waterloo line and a 6-minute train journey to Reading for the Reading to Paddington fast train (20-minutes) making it the ideal location for a Family Hotel Break in Berkshire.
